Symptoms

Encephalitis is inflammation of the brain, during which symptoms such as headache, dizziness, drowsiness, impaired consciousness, and possible elevation of body temperature occur. Encephalitis is often accompanied by damage to the nervous system, manifested by seizures, personality changes, cranial nerve paralysis, and speech problems. Encephalitis can be caused by both infectious and non-infectious diseases affecting the brain. However, the cause of encephalitis often remains unidentified.
