Thrombocytosis

Term

This is a high number of platelets in the blood. Platelets are small cell fragments that manage blood clotting. Platelets clump together and form a clot, blocking the damaged blood vessel and stopping the bleeding. In thrombocytosis, the platelet count is higher than 400 million per milliliter and can even reach up to 5000 million platelets per milliliter.
