Membrane

Term

It is an essential part of a living cell. The plasma membrane surrounds the cell and separates its internal environment from the external one, as well as one cell from another. It encloses the space where organelles (except the nucleus) are concentrated, known as the cytoplasm. Eukaryotes also have internal membranes – the Golgi apparatus, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, lysosomes, nucleus, which are necessary for the structure and functions of this formation. The thickness of the membrane is 6.0-10.0 nm.
