Cell

Term

It is the smallest basic structural and functional unit of various organisms. There are two types of cells: prokaryotic and eukaryotic. Prokaryotic cells are simpler, smaller (their size is 1–10 µm) than eukaryotic cells, they do not have a nucleus and organelles. Eukaryotic cells are larger (their size is 10–100 µm), they have a nucleus and organelles that perform specific specialized functions. Depending on the number of cells, organisms are classified as unicellular and multicellular. There are about 1013 cells in the human body.
