Mucormycosis

Symptoms

Mucormycosis – a fungal infection caused by glomeromycetes. Most commonly manifests as a nasal-cerebral-brain infection. It mainly affects people with immunodeficiency. There are also pulmonary and cutaneous forms. Diagnosis is confirmed by histological biopsy examination. Rhinocerebral mucormycosis is more common in diabetics. It presents with headache, visual disturbances, sinusitis, and later with necrosis. Pulmonary infection manifests as a cough.
