Pseudohypoparathyroidism

The body tissues exhibit resistance to the parathyroid hormone in a condition known as Pseudohypoparathyroidism. A genetic mutation is the root cause of this disease. The disease shows itself by lowering calcium levels and increasing levels of parathyroid hormone and phosphates in the blood. The disease can be symptomatic or asymptomatic. Those affected by a certain form of pseudohypoparathyroidism typically have a short stature, obesity, round face, poorly developed teeth, small hands and feet.
