Vitiligo

Vitiligo, manifesting as focal depigmentation of the skin (melanocytes disappear from areas of the skin). It is a progressive melanocytopenia characterized by impaired melanin synthesis. Vitiligo can occur anywhere on the skin, but most commonly on the hands, forearms, where the skin is most affected. It is an incurable pigmentation disorder. It is most often a symptom of autoimmune diseases. 1-2 out of 100 people suffer from this disease.
