Term

Cardiac arrhythmia is when the rhythm of its contractions is more than 100 times per minute. The heart can start beating harder during physical exertion, excitement, after drinking strong coffee or tea, smoking, or being in a poorly ventilated stuffy room for a long time. A temporary increase in heart rate, which normalizes when rested and no longer excited, is not a sign of illness. However, there are many diseases that can cause persistent tachycardia. The causes of its occurrence can be very diverse: congenital or acquired heart diseases, damage to heart tissues, high blood pressure, smoking, frequent coffee consumption, reaction to certain medications, frequent alcohol consumption, hyperthyroidism, anemia, electrolyte imbalance. The main symptom of tachycardia is a rapid heartbeat, depending on the cause of tachycardia, people may complain of shortness of breath, dizziness, palpitations, chest pain, fatigue.
