Myofibrils

Term

There are transverse, cardiac muscle sarcomere contraction fibers. Their main mass consists of protein fibers – myofilaments, which are of 2 types: thick myosin (length – about 1500 nm, diameter – 10-15 nm) and thin actin (length – 1000-1100 nm, diameter – 5-8 nm). There are also other proteins in myofibrils: tropomyosin B (in thin myofibrils), tropomyosin A (in thick myofibrils), as well as α- and β-actinins, troponins, etc.
