Mononucleosis

Term

This is a benign infectious disease of the lymphatic system caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. Clinically, the disease is characterized by high fever, necrotizing angina, widespread lymph node enlargement, and an increase in the number of monocytes and lymphocytes. Heterophilic antibodies and antibodies against viral components are detected in the blood serum.
