Intoxication

Term

A pathological condition that occurs when the body is exposed to exogenous or endogenous toxic substances. The entry of toxic substances or inhalation of toxic gases causes a diseased state. The concept of “intoxication” is derived from the Latin in – into and the Greek toxikon – poison. Intoxication can occur with gases, chemicals, food products, drugs, medications, etc.
