Human pancreatic polypeptide

In the E cells of the pancreas, a polypeptide is synthesized and secreted. It inhibits the secretion of pancreatic digestive enzymes and slows down the absorption of nutrients in the digestive tract. The secretion of this polypeptide is stimulated by the cholinergic system, hypoglycemia, intense physical activity, and fasting.
