Hemosiderinas
Term
This is a protein that binds iron in mammalian organisms. It accumulates in the liver and spleen (hemosiderosis), especially intensifying during erythropoiesis or iron absorption (hemochromatosis), in case of significant hemorrhages. The liver can accumulate up to 50 g of hemosiderin (normal range – 120-300 mg).
