Fructose

Term

It is a monosaccharide of the hexose class. It is an isomer of glucose, also composed of 6 carbon atoms, but with different structures. Fructose is also known as fruit sugar, as it is found in fruits, vegetables, and honey. It is soluble in water. Sweeter than glucose. It is a component of the disaccharide sucrose and many polysaccharides.
