Exudate
Term
This is an inflammatory fluid containing proteins, which may include blood cells, pathogens, dead tissues. It forms during inflammation, is present in tissues and cavities. There are various types of exudate: hemorrhagic, purulent, serous, mucous, fibrinous, and various combinations of them.
