Autoimmune diseases

Term

This condition arises from the immune system’s intolerance to the body’s own components. Several factors determine this intolerance:

  1. Cross-Reactions: Occur between the body’s substances and foreign substances.
  2. Immune Intolerance: Happens to body substances not usually reached by immune system components.
  3. Structural Changes: Changes in the structure of body substances.
  4. Cell Activation: Certain body cells activate and decrease immune tolerance.

This intolerance is characteristic of various diseases, including:

  • Nervous system disorders
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Autoimmune thyroid changes (e.g., Hashimoto’s thyroiditis)
  • Bacterial eye inflammation
  • Severe myasthenia
  • Erythema
  • Chronic rheumatism
  • Chronic liver inflammation
  • Certain forms of chronic eye inflammation
