The white-yellow chalky liquid is released when the tophi breaks out

When tophi break open, they can release a white-yellow chalky liquid, which consists of urate crystals mixed with a fluid that was contained in the nodule. This substance typically has a pasty consistency and appears during episodes where the tophi either rupture or are surgically intervened upon. The release of this material can occur spontaneously or due to trauma to the involved area. Managing gout effectively to prevent tophi from reaching this stage is important, as open tophi can lead to local irritation and may increase the risk of infection.
