Ptosis, or drooping eyelid, involves the abnormal lowering of one or both upper eyelids. Causes may include muscle weakness, nerve damage, or underlying conditions such as myasthenia gravis or Horner’s syndrome. Ptosis can affect vision and may require medical or surgical treatment, depending on the cause and severity.
