“It’s hard to open your eyes in the morning” describes a condition where your eyelids feel sticky or stuck together upon waking. This symptom can occur with trachoma due to the discharge and crusting that accumulate overnight as a result of chronic infection and inflammation. The buildup of these secretions creates a sticky residue that makes it difficult to separate the eyelids after a period of sleep. Additionally, the inflammation and irritation associated with trachoma can lead to discomfort and a gritty sensation when attempting to open the eyes. Treatment should focus on managing the underlying infection to alleviate this symptom.
