Inflammation is a reaction of living tissue with blood flow to damage caused by a harmful agent. According to the course, inflammation can be acute (lasts for days) and chronic (lasts for months, years). The main local signs of inflammation are redness, swelling, heat, pain, and impairment of the function of the tissue or organ affected by inflammation.
