Facial muscle weakness involves a reduced ability to move the muscles in the face. Common causes include:

  • Bell’s palsy: Sudden, temporary weakness on one side of the face.
  • Stroke: Blood flow interruption to parts of the brain affecting facial muscles.
  • Infections: Such as Lyme disease or herpes zoster.
  • Neuromuscular disorders: Like myasthenia gravis.
  • Brain tumors or lesions.
