During sleep, individuals with sleep apnea may experience frequent breathing pauses, occurring 7-10 times per hour. These breathing interruptions can lead to reduced oxygen levels in the blood and fragmented sleep. As a result, sufferers often wake up briefly to resume breathing, though they may not be consciously aware of these awakenings. This disrupted sleep can result in significant daytime fatigue and other health issues.
