Dilated retinal veins
Dilated retinal veins refer to the enlargement or swelling of the veins in the retina, often indicating an underlying issue such as retinal vein occlusion or elevated blood pressure. This condition can reduce blood flow and lead to other complications as blood backs up in the veins. Symptoms might include blurry vision, dark spots, or sudden vision changes. An eye examination typically reveals the dilated veins, and managing the underlying cause is crucial to prevent further retinal damage.
