A nodule is a small elevation on the skin or mucous membrane. It ranges from a few millimeters to 1 cm, can be spherical, oval, or irregular in shape, pink, red, or purplish-blue. The surface of the nodule is smooth, scaly, or indented, peeling. As the nodule disappears, it flattens, later turning into a dark or light spot, which eventually disappears completely.
