Blood from the respiratory tract can be bright, red, frothy, and coughing causes bleeding. Depending on the amount of blood loss, bleeding can be minimal (up to 50 ml per day; often blood is mixed with sputum), moderate (from 50 to 500 ml per day), abundant, life-threatening bleeding (more than 500 ml per day). The location of the bleeding focus is determined by bronchoscopy examination. It is important to calm the bleeding person, seat them comfortably, and seek medical help as soon as possible.
