Oxymetazolinum
Imidazoline group sympathomimetic amine, α adrenomimetic, constricting dilated arterioles, reducing nasal mucosal swelling, capable of opening a blocked Eustachian tube.
Indications
Acute and chronic rhinitis, sinusitis, hay fever; Eustachian tube swelling; to reduce nasal and throat mucosal swelling before surgery or a diagnostic procedure.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Dosage
Adults. Nasal mucosal swelling: 2-3 drops or 1-2 sprays of 0.05% solution into each nostril in the morning and evening for 3-5 days.
Children. 2-5 years old – 2-3 drops of 0.025% solution twice a day for 3-5 days, over 5 years old – same as adults.
Adverse reactions
Most common: burning, stinging, and dryness of nasal, oral, and throat mucosa, sneezing; reactive hyperemia. Others: due to drug absorption – hypertension, nervousness, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, insomnia, palpitations, reflex bradycardia.
Pregnancy
Risk category – C. The drug does not have a teratogenic effect. When used as recommended, it does not pose a risk to healthy pregnant women. However, caution should be exercised when prescribing the drug to women with marginal placental reserve.
Breastfeeding

Warnings
Use with caution in porphyria, hyperthyroidism, coronary heart disease, hypertension, severe atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, children under 2 years old.
