Fluocortolonum

Medicine

Description
Fluocortolone pivalate suppresses skin inflammation and allergic reactions, alleviating these subjective symptoms: itching, burning, and pain. This substance reduces capillary dilation, interstitial cell edema, and tissue infiltration. Capillary spread is inhibited.
Indications
For symptomatic pain and inflammation relief in cases of hemorrhoids, proctitis (suppositories, rectal cream), and anal eczema (rectal cream).
Contraindications
In the presence of an infected area, if there are symptoms of specific skin diseases (syphilis, tuberculosis), chickenpox, vaccination reactions, genital herpes; in case of increased sensitivity to any of the drug’s components.
Dosage
For adults. Rectally. Insert one suppository twice a day – in the morning and evening. As symptoms decrease, usually one suppository per day or every other day is sufficient. Rectal cream is used twice a day – in the morning and evening (approximately up to 1 g of cream per application). In the first days, it can be used three times a day. As symptoms decrease, in many cases, once a day is enough. Treatment should not last longer than 2 weeks.
For children. Not recommended for children.
Undesirable reactions
Long-term use (more than four weeks) may cause local skin changes, such as atrophy, striae, and telangiectasia. The possibility of allergic reactions to any component of the drug cannot be ruled out.
Pregnancy
There is insufficient data on the use of topical glucocorticosteroids during pregnancy, but the risk of systemic effects is lower because the systemic absorption of topically applied glucocorticosteroids is very low. General rule: during the first trimester of pregnancy, preparations containing glucocorticosteroids should not be used topically. The clinical indications for treatment with the preparation should be carefully considered, and it should be decided whether the expected benefit of treatment for pregnant and lactating women outweighs the potential harm. Prolonged use of the drug should be avoided. Warnings
Be careful to avoid contact with the eyes. After using the drug, it is advisable to wash hands thoroughly. If the suppositories soften from heat, before use, immerse them in cold water in an unopened container.
