Bromazepamum
Description
A medium-duration benzodiazepine acting as an anxiolytic, also affecting functional disorders caused by anxiety in various systems.
Indications
Anxiety, tension, and other somatic or psychological conditions related to anxiety syndrome.
As an adjunct in treating anxiety or agitation related to mental disorders such as mood disorders or schizophrenia.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines; severe respiratory insufficiency; sleep apnea syndrome; severe myasthenia gravis; severe hepatic insufficiency.
Dosage
For adults. Orally. The usual dose is 1.5-3 mg up to three times a day. Maximum dose is 6-12 mg two or three times a day (only in a hospital setting). Treatment duration not exceeding 8-12 weeks.
For children. Generally not recommended, but if the doctor deems the treatment suitable, the dose is determined based on the child’s low body weight (0.1-0.3 mg/kg body weight).
For elderly. Half of the adult dose.
With renal impairment. Reduce the dose by at least half.
With hepatic impairment. Reduce the dose by at least half.
Adverse reactions
Confusion, emotional disturbances, sexual dysfunction, depression, paradoxical reactions: restlessness, agitation, irritability, aggression, delusions, anger, nightmares, hallucinations, psychosis, inappropriate behavior, and other unwanted behavioral disorders, dependence, headache, dizziness, fatigue, decreased alertness, ataxia, anterograde amnesia, diplopia, gastrointestinal disturbances, skin reactions, muscle weakness, fatigue, increased risk of falls and fractures in elderly benzodiazepine users, respiratory depression, heart failure, including cardiac arrest.
Warnings
Long-term use may lead to dependence, and sudden discontinuation may cause withdrawal symptoms. Do not use with alcohol. May impair the ability to perform precise actions.
