Beclomethasonum
Beklometasone dipropionate – a synthetic corticosteroid, characterized by strong glucocorticoid and weak mineralocorticoid activity. Locally suppresses inflammation of the nasal mucosa, reduces capillary dilation and permeability.
Indications
Seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis; non-allergic (vasomotor) rhinitis; for the prevention of recurrent nasal polyps after polypectomy.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Dosage
For adults. 50 μg into each nostril 2-4 times a day or 100 μg twice a day, maximum daily dose – 400 μg.
For children. Over 6 years old – same as for adults.
Adverse reactions
Most common: burning and irritation of the nasal mucosa, sneezing, nosebleeds.
Others: runny nose, nasal congestion, itching of the nose and throat, dryness and crust formation in the nose, dryness and irritation of the throat, nasal mucosa erosion, nasal septum perforation; unpleasant taste, smell sensation; localized Candida infection of the nasal and throat mucosa; nasal furuncle. High doses of the drug can cause systemic side effects.
Pregnancy
Risk category – CM. General and local corticosteroids are teratogenic in animals. Corticosteroids used in the first trimester of pregnancy can cause oral and facial defects.
Breastfeeding
It is unknown whether beclometasone is excreted in breast milk. Other corticosteroids enter breast milk. The effect on the breastfed infant is unknown.
Warnings
Spray only into the nose. Use with caution in patients taking systemic corticosteroids, as well as after nasal surgery, trauma, or nasal septal ulcers. Not recommended in cases of untreated fungal or bacterial respiratory tuberculosis, ocular herpes simplex, systemic viral infection, in children under 6 years old. If a sneezing attack occurs, use the medication again. After long-term use of the drug, it is recommended to perform rhinoscopy every 6 months.
