Orthostatic hypotension
Orthostatic hypotension occurs when systolic blood pressure drops by 20 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure drops by 10 mmHg within the first three minutes of standing up. Clinically significant orthostatic hypotension arises only if it causes symptoms of cerebral circulation disorder, such as dizziness. This condition commonly affects elderly people. Several factors often cause orthostatic hypotension, including medications, complications from diabetes mellitus, and Parkinson’s disease.
