Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS) is a rare autoimmune disease affecting muscle innervation. This syndrome may be associated with cancer. Its main symptoms include gradual fatigue, weakness, and dry mouth. When examining such a patient, thigh muscle weakness, weakened or absent deep tendon reflexes, and dilated, poorly reactive pupils are often found. 40% of people with Lambert-Eaton syndrome also have small cell lung cancer. Effective cancer treatment often improves symptoms in these individuals.
