Anal and genital (venereal) warts manifest as various forms of viral mucosal lesions in the genital area. Several types of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) cause this disease. Infection presents as white or pink papules that can merge into plaques. The size of the lesions can range from a few millimeters to several centimeters. Warts can appear anywhere in the anal or genital region and typically emerge weeks or even months after infection. Usually, they do not cause additional symptoms. The most commonly affected age group is 15-25 years. Diagnosis is primarily based on clinical presentation, but there is no specific cure. Thus, recurrences are common.
