Folate deficiency anemia presents as megaloblastic anemia without neurological symptoms. The most common causes are inadequate nutrition, medications, toxins, rarely folate deficiency anemia is congenital. Diagnosed by detecting decreased folic acid levels in the blood serum. Folate deficiency anemia is often accompanied by vitamin B12 deficiency.
