Behçet’s disease is a inflammation of the blood vessels, causing skin and mucous membrane lesions, uveitis, arterial and venous diseases, gastrointestinal and neurological disorders. The disease manifests with various combinations and sequences of symptoms. Usually, young people between the ages of 20 and 30 are affected. Men tend to have a more active and severe form of the disease. It is more common among inhabitants of the Middle East, Eastern Asia, and the Mediterranean coast. It can also be a genetic disease. When inherited, symptoms start earlier and are more severe. In the presence of severe eye, vascular, and central nervous system damage symptoms, immunosuppressive treatment is applied.
