Symptoms
Aphthous stomatitis is multiple, red, small, round or oval ulcers with sharp edges on the oral mucosa without any other systemic disease. Ulcers appear in childhood or adolescence, often inherited. Diagnosis is based solely on the patient’s history and clinical examination, as there is no specific laboratory test. Treated with corticosteroids and anti-inflammatory drugs.
