Trichiasis
Trichiasis occurs when eyelashes grow inward towards the eye, instead of outward. This abnormal growth causes the lashes to rub against the cornea and conjunctiva, leading to irritation, redness, tearing, and potential damage to the eye’s surface. Chronic trichiasis can result from repeated infections, inflammation, or scarring of the eyelids. Treatment options include removing the ingrown lashes, using lubricating eye drops, or undergoing minor surgical procedures to correct the lash direction and prevent further damage.
