Oval bump. A papule is a small elevation on the skin or mucous membrane. It ranges in size from a few millimeters to 1 cm, can be spherical, oval, or irregular in shape, pink, red, or purplish-blue. The surface of the papule is smooth, scaly, or indented, flaking. As the papule disappears, it flattens, later becoming a dark or light spot, which eventually disappears completely.
